Midjourney’s evolving at the speed of light.
Slightly rewritten to stay relevant & timeless.
At the time of writing it’s been a whole year since Midjourney was first released. Seems like ages ago right? Midjourney feels like it’s always been here, like Google.
Within a year we reached Midjourney version 5.Â
Using Midjourney version 2, I made my first blogpost showcasing some examples in early July 2022.Â
I was curious to see how the results of Midjourney V5 would vary with the same prompts I used in Midjourney V2, back in July 2022.
Below you’ll find an overview of some amazing comparisons between Midjourney V5 and V2.
Do realize that this progress in Midjourney is made in just a year!

The difference between Midjourney V5 and V2
Midjourney V2 had a clear signature: it turned most requests into artistic paintings: real realism seemed far away and most results looked almost like an oil-painting. Take a second look at the Astronaut Chicken of the Hay Bales, for example.
Midjourney V5 has become more photographic and realistic, which is impressive in its own right. However, I do find myself missing the creative flair of Midjourney V2. For instance, take a second look at the Nike Airmax. The V2 version has a futuristic and innovative appearance, while the V5 version looks like something you might see on the shelves in 2023.
